Breathtaking Journey To Cyprus

Cyprus is just 3 hours away from any of the UK cities. So if you have really got bored of the grey shades in London, you can take a flight and be in Cyprus for lunch and also soak some sun. Cyprus is divided into two areas – the southern Republic of Cyprus and the northern Turkish Republic. The international airport here is the Larnaca airport that is located in the east. To the west lies the Paphos airport. You can get charter flights as well as the scheduled flights from from the UK to both destinations.

Amidst all the very well known tourist destinations over the world, there is a popular destination located in the serene climate of Eastern Europe which is famously known as Cyprus. Not so big in size and equally less in terms of population (3,572 square miles & 855 thousand respectively), Cyprus is abundantly bestowed with the rare combination of scenic beauty and the old world charm. It has the beautiful beaches straddled with the historic Greek mountains neatly put together in an awesome landscaping. This beautiful country can be reached via all the possible modes of travel e.g. Air, Water and land. Major three airports in Cyprus are quite close to the city-centers and are known as Larnaca (happens to be main airport!), Pafos and Ercan while the major passenger ports being Heraklion, Rhodes, Haifa and Port Said. The only word of advice here would be to ensure that tourist take the Airways in winters especially as the waterways has limited services during winters. Enough care should be taken to ensure that the ports chosen for entry into Cyprus are not declared illegal.

In case tourists plan to enter Cyprus through land, they should remember to wear helmets, if on bikes, and they should never violate the speed limits anywhere. Few other tips to remember are that they should be above 21 years in case they wish to rent a car otherwise they can drive their own car for 90 days, provided they have valid registration.

Once you are in the country, you have abundant opportunity to explore and enjoy the celebration of life Cyprus offers. On one side of it you have natural beauty of Cyprus to the other side which has the historic sites like Royal Tombs, monasteries, mosques etc in Nicosia which is the capital of Cyprus since 12th century. The other destinations which are quite famous for its archeological sites like Fort and museums are Larnaca. Cyprus is very well known world over for its wines and hence appropriately it hosts the famous wine festival at Limassol where the bright colors in the day and resplendent nights make the tourist enthralled. If the tourist is one of those nature lovers then Cyprus is an ideal destination for exploration as it offers the natural parks, protected reserves & beautiful Troodos Mountains at Pafos.

For the ones who want to exercise their taste buds, Cyprus is never behind in displaying its culinary skills. Seafood lovers would especially enjoy the delicacies like Tava, Dolmades, stifado and garides. These are famous dishes of Cyprus which are prepared from ingredients including beef and prawn. Wine and brandy are Cyprus’s well known products and are frequently available in its southern region. If you prefer a non-alcoholic beverage, Coffee is the choice you can go for in Cyprus which is the formal drink of the country. The local food stores are the best places to visit in case of day to day requirements.

Paphos is yet another beautiful city that offers buildings belonging to the Byzantine era. Even Roman and Greek monuments can be seen here. Tombs of the Kings is a famous tourist destination here. Here there are long tunnels for you to explore. There are some stunning mosaics displayed which are bound to hold you in awe.
